My name is Luke Irvine. I am the founder of the website "The Digital User." I am a devoted husband and father, having spent the past 20 years with an amazing wife who blessed me with three fantastic children. My ultimate goal in life is to provide the best possible life for my family, which is the most important thing to me. As I raise my kids, I strive to instill fundamental values in them about what it means to be a good person—values such as empathy, ethics, communication, consciousness, and morality. These principles are not only essential to how I live and interact with those around me but are also integral to my professional life.
I have worked in IT for the past 20 years, holding various roles including service desk, help desk, IT support, professional services, and pre-sales. These roles have given me the opportunity to engage with internal teams as well as interact with customers, providing me with a broad range of experience. Throughout these 20 years, due to company policies and practices or simply the nature of the organizations I worked in,
I have sometimes struggled to adhere to my personal values. In recent years, through various projects and engagements with customers, I was introduced to the concept of the Digital Employee experience. I found this concept fascinating and began to explore it further, recognizing the immense value it can bring to companies. During this exploration, I also encountered the idea of "Humanizing IT," which deeply resonated with my personal values. I found that these two concepts, when combined, could complement each other to create a truly Humanized Employee experience.
Through this website, I aim to both explore and inform others about these concepts. I hope to take you along on my journey, outlining what a Humanized Employee experience looks like in the IT world and discussing the tools and processes we can use to develop and implement this idea.
